3-Fluoromethamphetamine (3-FMA) is a novel synthetic compound belonging to the ring-substituted fluorinated amphetamine class. It is known to produce both entactogenic and stimulant effects upon administration. Following the introduction of 3-FEA, 3-FMA emerged in the designer drug market as a compound structurally related to a series of fluorinated substituted amphetamines, which includes 2-FMA, 3-FA, 4-FMA, and 4-FA.


Pharmacological Profile

As with its parent compound 3-FA, the pharmacological, toxicological, and subjective effects of 3-FMA in humans have not been thoroughly mapped. Initial reports suggest that 3-FMA acts as a moderately potent serotonin-dominant triple monoamine releaser or reuptake inhibitor, resulting in a relatively short-lived balance of entactogenic and stimulant effects.


Chemical Structure

3-FMA, or 3-fluoromethamphetamine, is a synthetic molecule within the amphetamine family. The amphetamine class is characterized by a phenethylamine core, which consists of a phenyl ring connected to an amino (NH2) group via a methyl chain, with an additional methyl substitution at Rα. As the 3-position fluorinated analog of methamphetamine, 3-FMA is speculated to exhibit properties more akin to shorter-lived entactogenic stimulants. It is also a positional isomer of both 2-FMA and 4-FMA.
